1966 world champion George Eastham has died. The former England striker was 88 years old.
Eastham played 19 matches from soccer blog for the national team. He was a member of the 1966 World Cup winning team but did not play a single match in the tournament.
The forward played for Newcastle, Arsenal and Stoke City, where he moved after the World Cup for 35 thousand pounds.
Eastham was involved in a 1963 lawsuit that resulted in major reform of the British transfer market. It allowed to expand the freedom of players in the matter of transfers between clubs.
Eastham became the 19th footballer from England`s world champion team to pass away. At the moment, three people from that championship team remain alive: Ian Callaghan, Terry Payne and Geoffrey Hurst.
